The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain and physical disorders of the soft tissues and joints by manual and physical methods to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function to relieve pain and promote health.

BC's Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are among the most educated and highly trained professionals in their field. To become an RMT in BC students must complete extensive training at an accredited college.

Standard educational requirements include comprehensive studies in health sciences such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, kinesiology and neuroanatomy. Other studies include clinical sciences such as manual skills, orthopedics, remedial exercise, hydrotherapy and patient education. The management of chronic diseases, injuries and the effects of long-term stress are also studied extensively.

Your RMT is trained in rehabilitative exercise such as hydrotherapy, stretching, strengthening, and postural exercises. Your RMT is committed to providing the very best in one-on-one patient care.

Jake Graduated from the WCCMT’s 3000-hour program in 2017. At the beginning of his practice, he focused on his passion for sports rehabilitation and injury prevention working with local and professional athletes. He pursued this passion for several years working with the likes of; the Toronto Argonauts, Team Canada Rugby, Several other teams for the Rugby 7’s International Championship and a top 5 Iron Man competitor. Jake’s passion for sports massage and rehab hasn’t waned over the years, but has switched his main practice focus to TMJ massage which he has dedicated the last 4 years of practice focus. Aside from his own practice Jake also taught at WCCMT as a Clinical Supervisor, preparing students for clinical practice and assessing the hands-on skills of future graduates and eventually other RMTs.

With his experience in both an orthopedic and spa setting you’ll find Jake’s approach to treatment feels like a hybridization of the two. His goal for you is “feel better, but feel relaxed”.

When Jake isn’t in the clinic you may find him out in the hills, enjoying the summer nights camping or on the slopes on his snowboard.
